faithing

so it was monday, march 19th, and i'm driving to my class. i'm taking a different route this time 'cuz i had to drop by kinko's off orangethorpe and valleyview to make copies of an application for our upcoming tournament. so yeah, i'm driving down orangethorpe towards knott, and i just happened to glance over and see a homeless person sitting in this parking lot - shopping cart and all.

i was quickly reminded that i had a variety bag of chips in the back of my truck. so, i pulled over, parked in the parking lot next to the one the homeless person was in, and walked over...

i approached the homeless person and realized that it was a woman. i asked if she was hungry (now that i think about it, that was probably a pretty stupid question), she nodded her head "yes", and i handed her the bag of chips. usually, i would've just handed her the chips and walked away and said, "have a nice day and God bless" or something like that... but, for a long time, I've been wanting to step up to the plate and take an extra step to showing God's goodness through my actions... so, I decided to get outta my "comfort zone" and get into the "faith zone". I sat down, and started talking to her. Asked her about her background, where she came from, her name, etc... I asked her if I could pray for her... I REALLY wanted to. but she was like, "you can do what you want, I pray a different way." so, I said okay and prayed for her as I was walking toward my car after I said goodbye.

i can't even tell you how awesome this was. i really felt the Holy Spirit working through me. I don't think I changed her views about God or anything like that - I definitely know it's gonna take more than a 5 minute conversation to do that, but I do intend on following up with her when I see her again.

Anyways... I just thought I'd share my "God Story". ;)
